The Star of Bethlehem - The Rest of the Story

Epic Epiphany explodes into expansive insight and revelation once you understand what it really is.

What I call Epic Epiphany is forty consecutively dated solar and lunar eclipses specific and unique to this 2010-2019 decade, and all of them are paired together and related by one common date.

The eclipse dates came from NASA's website. NASA's records date backward to 1999 BC and forward to 3000 AD. The magnitude and precision of how these eclipses pair up in this type of arrangement is unique to this 5,000-year period of history, and in fact, is unique to this very 2010-2019 decade. There have been similar past pairings, but none as perfect and epic as this.
(Note: One date, 8/18/2016, does not appear on NASA's website.  However, the eclipse has been verified through Wikipedia, Stellarium software, and Google: 8/18/2016 eclipse.)

This whole graph is filled with dates and events associated with those dates.  God may or may not choose to do something special on those dates.  That is not the main point.

The main point is that God, and specifically Jesus Christ, is the Creator and sustainer of the universe right down to amazing detail that was planned before creation.  These eclipses had to have been put into place in astronomical clockwork-fashion on the 4th day of creation.  When you look at past history, it appears as though God has them related to Biblical feast days and possible prophecies, and human events.  So our response should be one of awesome wonder at who God is and one of attentiveness as to what He may have in store for us in the near future.  We need to draw close in our relationship with Him.  I communicate dates and events, but the purpose is to draw our focus to Jesus Christ who created those dates and events.

Epic Epiphany has the potential to profoundly affect our view of God.  Unfortunately, many people are overwhelmed at first glance, and thus miss the blessing. They give a shrug or casual acknowledgement, then go on to something else.  Hopefully, this little narrative will help put this Epic Epiphany picture into a clearer and more exciting perspective, and hopefully will find us giving glory to Jesus Christ who is the author and creator of not only this picture, but the epic creation behind it.

First let me describe, what I call the Epic Epiphany picture, for those who may be reading or listening to this narrative without the benefit of seeing the picture.  You can find this picture on my website homepage at:

This picture or graph shows the outstanding precision of nearly every eclipse consecutively dated in this
2010-2019 decade. Paul Grevas, retired insurance company statistician and his niece designer arranged these eclipses on his website at so that they form what looks like the outside outline of a menorah.  A menorah is a 7-branched candelabrum or lampstand and is on the national emblem of the State of Israel.  This emblem shows a menorah flanked by 2 olive branches.  Jewish people actually have 2 lampstands or menorahs.  The one described in the Bible in Exodus chapter 25 is a 7-branched menorah.  The Jewish people also have a 9-branched menorah they use to celebrate Hanukkah.  Read Revelation 11, especially verse 4 to see perhaps a relationship between these 2.

Every eclipse in this picture has a compliment or makes up a pair of eclipses - every solar eclipse on the left side matches a solar eclipse on the right side. Likewise, every lunar eclipse on the left side matches a lunar eclipse on the right side.

The left side of the picture lists the solar and lunar eclipses from 12/21/2010 to 10/23/2014, and the right sides lists the compliment solar and lunar eclipses from 3/20/2015 to 1/21/2019.  20 eclipses on the left side, 20 eclipses on the right side.  40 eclipses altogether in consecutive order reading down from the left side and then up from the right side.

And every pair has a midpoint date.  For example: if you have an event on Jan. 4th and an event on Jan. 6th, the midpoint is the middle date of Jan. 5th.  Here we have 40 eclipse events paired up, and every single pair of either lunar or solar eclipses has the same exact midpoint of Jan. 5, 2015. So a real life example here is the first lunar eclipse which occurred on 12/21/2010 and its compliment on the other side of the pair will occur on 1/21/2019.  The middle date midpoint between these 2 lunar eclipses is Jan. 5, 2015.  Both eclipses are 1476.5 days from the middle date of 1/5/2015.  This is just the first pair.  Remember this same 1/5/2015 midpoint date occurs for the next consecutive 19 pairs of eclipses without fail.

Again, these eclipse dates came from NASA's website.

So what is significant about Jan. 5th, 2015?  Did any unusual events occur on that day? That's a good question!  I don't know.  However, I believe it is significant that Jan. 5th is Epiphany Eve, the day before Epiphany which is celebrated on Jan. 6th each year.  God often seems to start His days the evening before - in Genesis 1:14-19 of the Bible, God says He created the sun, moon, and stars to serve as signs. At the end of that day of creation, God says there was evening and there was morning - the 4th day. Read also Leviticus 23. So apparently Epiphany Eve day, Jan. 5th, and Epiphany Day, Jan. 6th, both work.

Epiphany is one of the oldest Christian holidays that celebrates the Magi finding Jesus and honoring Him with their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Gold for a king and/or god, frankincense for a priestly mediator between God and man, and myrrh for anointing a prophet or as a spice in burial.

I personally find it interesting that the midpoint dates of all 20 pairs of eclipses is Epiphany in the year 2015. Observed on January 6th, 2015 the Epiphany celebration remembers the miracles that manifest the divinity of Christ. The name "Epiphany" comes from the Greek word Epiphaneia, and means "to show, make known, or reveal." In Strong's Bible dictionary, where most all the words in the Bible are numbered, the Greek New Testament word G2015 is "epiphaneia which means a manifestation, that is, (specifically) the "advent" of Christ, appearing, brightness.  The word G2015 is used 6 times in the Bible - all of them referring to Jesus' 2nd coming to this earth.

The Hebrew Old Testament word in Strong's is H2015 which is "haphak".  Haphak means to change, overturn, overthrow. The word H2015 is used 94 times in the Bible usually associated with judgment.  Note again the meanings of G2015 and H2015 in relation to the year 2015 and the 2015 Epiphany date midpoint.

I think that God may be making a statement here.  Not that He was coming back Jan. 5th, 2015, but rather that Jesus Christ is both God and Creator of a universe that didn't get here by chance random events.  Romans 1:20 says, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

Any way, back to the Epic Epiphany picture or graph.  The first 3 evenly spaced lunar eclipses on the upper left side and the last 3 evenly spaced lunar eclipses on the upper right side are total lunar eclipses and are called lunar triples.  A lunar triple is three consecutive total lunar eclipses in a row.  These 3 lunar eclipses on the left side are equal distance from each other in dates which places the middle eclipse in the exact middle of the other two.

An interesting fact about this middle lunar eclipse dated 6/15/2011 is that it is called a Bull's Eye blood moon, because it can be seen directly from Jerusalem.  It's compliment pair on the right side dated 7/27/2018 is also a Bull's Eye blood moon.

The Epic Epiphany designer shows 4 total lunar eclipses at the bottom of the picture as a base for this "menorah". If you can imagine a candlestick or lampstand with 7 flame bowls in a row, and the central stem or post running down to a base. These 4 total lunar eclipses are like that base.  They are the central focus of all these 40 eclipses.  These 4 total lunar eclipses are called a tetrad, and many call them a Biblical tetrad, because all 4 total lunar eclipses, or blood moons, fall on the feast days of Passover and Tabernacles.  These blood moons appear one right after another on NASA's website.  While there have been several times when 4 total eclipses in a row have occurred, what makes these significant is that only 7 previous times have Biblical tetrads happened in the past 2,000 years where the total lunar eclipses fell on Biblical feast days.  And significant events happened during these times with either Jews, Muslims, and/or Catholics.

The last 3 tetrad occurrences happened in 1493-1494 when the Jews were kicked out of Spain and many settled in America, 1949-1950 when Israel's borders were established after becoming a nation in 1948, and 1966-1967 when Israel won the 6-Day war and gained Jerusalem. In each of these last 3 tetrads, Israel was in a period strife followed by new freedoms and land.  We are in the 8th tetrad now which runs 2014-2015, and the nations are turning against Israel. I would say they are in a period of strife again. The eclipse dates of this Biblical tetrad are 4/15/2014 Passover, 10/8/2014 Tabernacles, 4/4/2015 Passover, and 9/28/2015 Tabernacles.

I find it interesting that there were 4 lunar eclipses in a row in the years 32-33 AD. While this was not a Biblical tetrad, because 2 of the lunar eclipses were partial and 2 were total, still all four eclipses fell in a row on the Biblical Feast days of Passover and Tabernacles.  They fell on the same days of the week like the 2014-2015 tetrad, and each was only one numerical day off from the 2014-2015 tetrad blood moons.  Many people, including myself, believe that Jesus was crucified on 4/3/33 AD. A Passover full moon occurred that Friday night in that series of 4 lunar eclipses.

Everyone around the world has the opportunity to see at least one of the 2014-2015 blood moons in the tetrad.  I personally saw the first three.  The last one on Tabernacles 9/28/2015 will be directly over Jerusalem so it will be considered a Bull's Eye blood moon.  Also, since the moon travels in an elliptical pattern, it will be the closest to the earth on that day making it appear 14.5% larger than usual - this is known as a "super moon".  Some have noted that the average pregnancy of a woman is 266 days which is also the number from the first blood moon 4/15/2014 Passover to the 1/5/2015 Epiphany midpoint date and therefore also the number of days from the 1/5/2015 Epiphany date to the last blood moon on 9/28/2015 Tabernacles. Jesus Christ is the common thread that runs throughout the entire Bible.  The Old Testament of the Bible looked forward to the Epiphany of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem.  The New Testament was birthed in this Epiphany.

As we progress up the right side of the eclipse pairs, the first 3 solar eclipses also have interesting stories.  The 3/20/2015 total solar eclipse happened on the spring equinox.  It was the first day of the Jewish religious new year, it was on a Rosh Chodesh meaning it was the beginning of a new Jewish month, and it was the exact middle date of the Shemitah year that we are currently in that runs from 9/25/2014 to 9/13/2015
Shemitah years roll around every 7th year.  They were established by God in Leviticus 25.  Just Google or YouTube or look on my website for information on the Shemitah.  All 5 of the major economic downturns since 1973 have happened in Shemitah years.  The last day of the Shemitah in 2001 was a record day stock market crash on the eve of the Feast of Trumpets.  Exactly 7 years later on the 360-day Biblical calendar on the eve of the Feast of Trumpets in 2008 there was a new record day stock market crash.

In fact, of the last 5 largest stock market day loss changes, 3 of the 5 fell on 9/29/2008 the eve of Feast of Trumpets (aka Rosh Hashanah), 10/9/2008 Day of Atonement (aka Yom Kippur) and 10/15/2008 Feast of Tabernacles (aka Sukkot).  The crash on 9/17/2001 was the eve of Feast of Trumpets, and 12/1/2008 fell on Kislev 4 of the Biblical calendar.  Kislev 4 is mentioned in the Bible in Zechariah 7 in the context of people refusing the hear the word of the LORD.  11 of the last 20 largest stock market point changes occurred in 2008 making it more intense than in 2001.  15 of the last 20 largest one day stock market point changes occurred around a Shemitah year.  All that to say that people are watching to see what happens to the stock market this September as the Shemitah year we are now in closes.  Remember Shemitah years occur every 7th year, and 7 cycles of 7 years end with the beginning of a new Jubilee year.  A new Jubilee year begins this September 23rd on the Day of Atonement. This year the Shemitah ends and the Jubilee year begins on 9/13/2015 which falls within the blood moon tetrad we mentioned earlier. The Jubilee is like the culmination or climax of these seven 7-year cycles.

Remember the 3/20/2015 total solar eclipse was the exact middle day of the 2014-2015 Shemitah year. Then we have a partial solar eclipse on the last day of the Shemitah which is the eve of the Feast of Trumpets on 9/13/2015. Like the 3/20/2015 eclipse this eclipse falls on a new Hebrew month and so it is called a Rosh Chodesh.

Then we have another total solar eclipse on 3/9/2016.  This eclipse is rather unique, too.  In order to place the 9/13/2015 eclipse in the exact middle of these 3 eclipses, and fall on a Rosh Chodesh like the other 2 eclipses, and also compliment its pair on 11/3/2013, this eclipse had to fall on a leap year. The leap year Rosh Chodesh for this 3/9/2016 eclipse is the final cycle in a series of 7 cycles within a broader 19-year cycle. Kind of complicated, suffice to say it was a special total solar eclipse as well.

The total lunar eclipse on 3/23/2016 falls on the Feast of Esther which is the eve of Purim.  Like Hanukkah and Epiphany, this is not a feast originally appointed by our LORD. However, the Purim, Hanukkah, and Epiphany holidays all celebrate God caring for His Jewish people.  This 3/23/2016 eve of Purim lunar eclipse is exactly one calendar year from when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed both houses of our US congress regarding the threat of Iran's nuclear arms intentions against them.

This string of eclipses that make up what I call Epic Epiphany ends with a total lunar eclipse on 1/21/2019 which like its compliment partner on
12/21/2010 is part of 3 total lunar eclipses in a row called a lunar triple.

And once again, all these eclipses we have been talking about are arranged in pairs by dates and all the pairs share one common date together as their middle or midpoint date, and that date is Jan. 5th, 2015 Epiphany Eve. In 5,000 years of NASA's records, this magnitude of consecutive pairing is unique.

So in light of all these fascinating eclipse details, what general observations can we make?  What does this Epic Epiphany mean to us?  And is there something we can learn from this astronomical creation our designer/creator God has put in place?

First - Is. 46:9-10 says, "Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.  I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'"

God created a precise astronomical clockwork, that is so precise, NASA can show the exact time to the second, the duration, the magnitude, the location of every solar and lunar eclipse from 1999 BC through 3000 AD.  That means we didn't start from a random big bang that just kind of developed over time from an explosion of something that came from nothing.  If this clockwork came from a Creator God, then that means we came from a Creator God also.  We are not here by chance, we are here by design. And more specifically, you are not here by chance, you are here by design.

Second - Colossians 1:15-17 says, " Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Jesus all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Jesus and for Jesus.  Jesus is before all things, and in Jesus all things hold together."

The holiday of Epiphany is all about recognizing, acknowledging, and embracing who Jesus Christ is as divine King, priestly Mediator, and sacrificial Prophet. With Epic Epiphany, it seems like God is making a loud statement that Jesus Christ is God and the center of our universe and should be the center of our lives.

Third - Genesis 1:14 says, "And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years"

The Hebrew word for seasons (H4150 in Strong's Bible Dictionary) in this verse is the same word to describe the Biblical feast days given in Leviticus 23:2-44 - feasts like Passover and Tabernacles.  So God arranged the sun, moon, and stars in the sky to mark out special Biblical feast days.  And all these Old Testament Biblical feast days are symbolic of what Jesus Christ did for us when He came to this earth the first time and what He will do for us when He comes the second time.  If these feast days were so important to God in the Old Testament, and are now serving as His signs in the New Testament, maybe we should take notice and appreciate the significance of them.

Fourth - Rev. 13:8 says, "All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world."

In the book of John, John the Baptist said that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God.  Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross on Passover 33 AD at the same time the Jewish people were slaying their lambs for their Passover meal. April 3, 33 AD Passover fell on a Friday, just like April 4th, 2015 Passover fell on a Friday.  This had to be so that Jesus could rest in the tomb on the Saturday Sabbath, and then rise from the dead on the first day of the week, Sunday April 5, 33 AD.

Romans 3:21-25 says, "But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood."

So, from the beginning of creation, God knew the exact time Jesus would die on the cross for our sin, and He created this magnificent clockwork astronomy to coordinate with that time.  Not only did God know the day Jesus would die on the cross before He created the world, but also He knows the day Jesus will come again in glory like He promised.  We may not know, but I'm confident that God does.

This leaves us with one big decision: What are we going to do with what we know?

Keep in mind Ephesians 2:8-9 " For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

And Fifth - Matt. 7:21 says, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.  Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"

Then read Matt. 25 which talks about 5 foolish virgins. Both of these groups know who Jesus is. Both groups appear to be doing good things.  Yet our LORD says He does not know them. The implication is that their desire and activities were not focused on Him.  They were distracted and had ulterior motives.

May our LORD draw us all ever closer to Him so that He knows us personally.

There is so much more that could be said.  Please visit:  Thank you.

If you were to die tonight, and the LORD asked you why
He should let you into His heaven, what would you say?

Are you a good person - by God's standards?
